Hockey is a field sport that is played between two teams of 11 players. Hockey is a very old and international play game. various types of equipment used for safety purposes while playing hockey.

What is Hockey

One of the oldest sports in the world is hockey. Two teams of skaters compete in this physically demanding and quick-paced sport on a rink. The game's purpose is to fire the puck into the other team's net to score a goal. A stick, a puck, and skates are used to play the game. It is also defined as

“Hockey is a sport played on ice between two teams of 11 players who use long, curved sticks to hit a tiny rubber disc known as a puck and attempt to score goals.”

On the other hand, Hockey is also defined as “ Teams play field hockey by assembling on a field and using hockey sticks to push a ball into a goal to score points. Depending on who has the most points at the end of the game, that person is declared the winner.”

HISTORY OF HOCKEY GAME

The name "hockey" is used to refer to several summer and winter team games that were first played on an open field, a sheet of ice, or a dry surface, as in a gymnasium. Hockey comes in a variety of forms. Skates, whether wheeled or bladed, are used in some games yet not in others. The term "hockey" is frequently followed by other words, such as "field hockey," "ice hockey," "roller hockey," "rink hockey," or "floor hockey," to assist distinguish between these different sports.

In each of these sports, two teams compete against one another by attempting to maneuver the play item, usually a ball or disc (like a puck), into the other team's goal. With two significant exceptions, a straight stick and an open disc with a hole in the center are used in their place. In the first instance, Canadian Sam Jacks created a specific kind of floor hockey in 1936 during the Great Depression. In the second instance, a variation was later changed to create a comparable game that would be deemed appropriate for inclusion as a team sport in the then-emerging Special Olympics, sometime in the 1970s. Gym ringette, a game played on the floor that is linked to floor hockey but is not a real version, was developed in the 1990s and was based on the 1963-invented Canadian ice skating team sport of ringette. Sam Jacks, a Canadian who also established the rules for floor hockey played with an open disc in 1936, also created the ringette.

The word "hockey" by itself often refers to ice hockey in Canada, the United States, Russia, and the majority of Eastern and Northern Europe, but it refers to field hockey in the majority of the rest of the globe. In more recent times, the term "hockey" has been used to refer to both the winter ice team skating sports of bandy and ice hockey as well as the summer stick and ball sport of field hockey. This is because dry-surface sports like roller hockey and floor hockey, as well as other stick-and-ball activities like bandy, came before games that would later be played on ice with ice skates.

However, the "hockey" used in an everyday speech frequently varies by location, geography, and the scope and scope of the sport in question. For instance, the term "hockey" is more frequently used to describe field hockey in Europe than ice hockey in Canada. The game of bandy, which was organized and developed before ice hockey, was originally known as "hockey on the ice," but it was formally renamed "bandy" in the early 20th century to prevent confusion about ice hockey, a different sport.

The basic field hockey rules

1. Hockey players can only use the flat side of their stick to strike the ball.
2.  Hockey players are not permitted to use their feet or any other body parts to manipulate the ball at any point, except the goaltender.
3.  There are only three ways to score a goal: from a field goal, a penalty corner, or a penalty shot. A field goal is an unassisted goal that can only be scored from inside the "striking circle," in front of the opposing team's goal. If the puck is struck into the goal from outside the circle, it does not count as a goal.
4.  Hockey players are not permitted to trip, shove, charge, impede, or otherwise physically harm an opponent. Hockey is a no-contact sport, therefore depending on where the foul occurred and how serious it was, the non-offending side will either receive a free hit or be awarded a "penalty corner."

Types of equipment used in Hockey

zaidisports.blogspot.com

Helmet. This is the most crucial piece of gear when it comes to avoiding major injury. Helmets should include a complete facemask, a protective chin cup, and a chin strap, and they should be approved by the Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC). To guarantee that the helmet stays in place, check that it fits comfortably and maintain the chin strap fixed and snug.

Skates. Get skates that fit properly, just like you should with helmets. The incorrect size skates might damage your feet since you'll lace them up tightly. Skates should have a steel or hard plastic toe cup and provide good ankle support. Keep your skates sharp to improve performance and decrease the likelihood that they may get stuck in ice ruts.

Shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee, and shin pads. All of these are unique to hockey. Equipment for lacrosse or soccer won't provide the necessary protection. The top of your skates should be covered by the lower leg (knee and shin) pads, which should be made of hard plastic.

Hockey pants. These, which are also known as breezes, should reach the knee and provide cushioning for the upper legs' front, back, and sides as well as the middle.

Gloves. Hockey gloves, another item made specifically for sports, should allow for movement while providing protection well past the wrist.

Athletic supporter and cup. Available alone or as a part of hockey underpants.

Neck protector. These shield the neck from harm, even though certain leagues don't need them.

Mouthguard. These can lessen the risk of jaw injuries and safeguard the teeth, lips, cheeks, and tongue.

Goalie Gear.

Goalies in hockey require a completely separate set of gear for themselves. They require a goalie-specific sports cup, helmet, skates, and neck guard. Goalies should furthermore always wear:

Leg pads. These should always be the proper size and sufficiently thick to withstand even the toughest slapshot.

Arm pads and chest protector. The wrist should be covered with arm padding. To protect the entire front properly, chest protectors should extend just past the sides.

Blocker glove. This glove should let the fingers grip the stick easily but be very thick and cover most of the forearm.

Catcher glove. Baseball catcher gloves, which are similar to first baseman's gloves, should have heavy padding around the wrist and palm and extend up the forearm.
